Bob Kunzinger’s new non-fiction book, “Curious Men: Lost in the Congo,” was released in January.
It is the story of two Bona alumni: Kunzinger, ’83, who as a freshman and sophomore helped 1976 graduate Joseph Kohn plan a trip on the Congo River. Half of the book takes place at Bona’s and in the vicinity, and when things don’t go as planned, the rest takes place in Central Africa.
“As a college freshman uninterested in the normal activities of my floormates — that is, drinking — I felt lost and disconnected from everyone. Then a family friend and Bona alumnus returned from the Peace Corps and asked me to help him plan a trip, solo, on the Congo River. So I did,” Kunzinger said. “Long story short, it didn’t work out, and his trip became mine.”
Kunzinger’s writing has been endorsed by PBS, Tim O’Brien, Martin Sheen, S.E. Hinton, Yahoo Entertainment and more.
