“Integrity: Living God’s Word,” a new collection of homilies by Fr. Kevin E. Mackin, O.F.M., ’60, connects scripture and service. The 55 sermons, with citations representing salvation history in a year’s cycle, weave together contemporary humor, human experiences and challenges, and communion with all God’s creation.

In “Integrity: Living God’s Word,” Fr. Kevin wears his heroes and love of history on his sleeve, ranging from canonized favorite Mother Teresa of Calcutta to renowned Protestant theologian, Bach scholar and medical doctor Albert Schweitzer.

Fr. Kevin, a member of the Franciscan community at St. Anthony’s Friary in St. Petersburg, Fla., serves at St. Raphael Catholic Church, and is a chaplain for the St. Petersburg Police Department. He’s also a member of the special works board for the Society of St. Vincent DePaul and is active with Catholic Charities of South Pinellas County. The new book invites the reader to encounter the living Christ, who communicates his life to us.

From 1996 to 2007, Fr. Kevin was president of Siena College and is president emeritus. While president of Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y., from 2008 to 2014, he also served as professor of religious studies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from St. Bonaventure, a master’s in history from Siena College, and four credentials from Catholic University of America, including a doctorate in sacred theology cum laude.
