Thomas Berry, ’88, has published his latest historical fiction novel, “Gifts of the Gods: Iron and Bronze.” It is the first in a trilogy on ancient Greece and Berry’s fourth novel to date. The story centers on the Peloponnesian War between democratic Athens and socialist Sparta. The book follows five men and women as they navigate the turbulent times, experience the golden age of Pericles and Socrates, and witness the devastating effects of plague, siege and strife. Although set in ancient times, the novel invites discussion of current world events. “In order to understand and appreciate our present political dynamics, we need to look into the past and see how it all unfolded,” says Berry. The book is available in print and electronic format at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other locations. For more information, visit www.thomas-berry.com.
